McDonald’s: developing a zero waste strategy for the Games

McDonald’s packaging and waste objective for the Games was to comply with or exceed the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG’s) waste vision while minimising disruption to customers and operations on the Park, and at the same time identify moves that could be rolled out across the company as ‘legacy’ after the Games. A number of operation-based targets were set in order to help achieve this objective. These targets were largely achieved and this micro-report sets out the best practice applications developed and the lessons learned from the experience.
