On a heavily contaminated land site such as the Olympic Park there was always a distinct possibility that asbestos would be present in the soil as debris from former works on site, as well as former building materials. This report shows how contractors on the Park took a proactive approach to identify the possible or actual presence, of, asbestos contamination, acquire the necessary expertise and advice and finally implement the necessary precautions. This approach allowed the contractors to continue working with minimal delays or risk to the health of operatives.
